About Me

Get To Know Me
MY NAME IS
Marcel DeGagné

My journey into spiritual care has been shaped by decades of lived experience, personal searching, and a deep desire to accompany others through life’s joys and sorrows. After many years working in administrative, religious, and volunteer roles, I came to understand that my true calling lay in listening deeply, offering presence, and helping others discover their own sources of strength and meaning.

My Journey

I didn’t begin my career in spiritual care, but the seed was always there. Through experiences in seminary life, religious communities, volunteer work, and even a few unexpected detours, I discovered that what brought me the greatest fulfillment was walking alongside others in times of vulnerability. My training in Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) has given me tools to integrate this calling into concrete practice, while my own lived experiences with depression, healing, and personal transformation allow me to meet people with genuine empathy.

My Therapeutic Philosophy

At the heart of my practice is the belief that every person carries within them a “burning ember”—a unique, vital spark that fuels their capacity to live, heal, and grow. Whether rooted in religion, relationships, nature, or something entirely personal, that ember is worth discovering and nurturing.

I offer a space of attentive, non-judgmental presence where people are free to explore their spirituality, struggles, and inner resources. I work from a client-centered, strength-based perspective and believe that suffering, while deeply painful, can often serve as the spark that ignites healing. My role is to accompany—not to lead—with compassion, integrity, and reverence for each person’s journey.

Bilingual Support

As a fluently bilingual practitioner (French and English), I offer spiritual care in either language to meet the needs of a diverse community. This allows me to accompany people in the language that feels most authentic and comforting to them, whether in moments of reflection, grief, or healing.

A Bit About My Life

I live in St. Andrews, Manitoba, with my wife Gayle, whose support and partnership continue to shape and enrich my work. I am committed to practicing spiritual care that is inclusive, respectful, and responsive to the diversity of those I serve. I also love history, storytelling, and the quiet joy of meaningful conversation.
